I totally agree with Chinajoe. The school provides virtually nothing in the way of resources and the few learning materials that exist within the school are obsolete at the best of times. The staff turnover, especially in the English Foundations Department, is so high its off the scale. Students were given 100% power, ill-disciplined and above all, a teacher's nightmare.

To say the location is remote would be the understatement of the century. I have worked in schools in the outer suburbs of cities or even in rural locations, but this place really took the biscuit, with no such thing as a public bus service. The nearest town was rustique at the best of times, and that required a 20RMB minicab ride. Furthermore the on-campus "shop" and "cafeteria" were poorly stocked and overpriced, due the fact they had a monopoly over the whole school with no shop within 2 miles.

In short, keep away from this school.

Agreed, but not even the hotels have amazing food. However, you can find good food in Suzhou ex: Hofbrauhaus, Jj's in Horizon (quite good but expensive) Garbo's (simple but good, not too pricy), Jack's place (in my mind better than Mario's), Zapata's (bit expensive), TGI is ok, Lizzaran (service so so but good food).

Third floor... forget it!

They used to have a live band some years ago... so here's hoping they can do that again... there is no live band in that whole complex which is strange!!!

There is NO amazing Western food in Suzhou... except at one or two of the high-end hotels like the Renaissance Hotel in SIP (and it comes at a price!).

Jack's Place is a good restaurant with good food in a comfortable family style ambiance in the center of town... Sorrento is a good restaurant with a bit more space out in SIP... they're both ok depending on your preferred location.

This school promises the staff that they will be housed ina 4 star hotel when in fact the hotel we lived in is an abandoned husk of a hotel that runs on a skeleton staff and is unrated (meaning 0 stars).

After a few months of unsatisfactory working conditions (filthy classrooms and school grounds, non-functional heating and other facilities in room, etc.) I informed the headmaster that my friend and I would likely be leaving at the end of the summer, effectively giving him more than two month's notice to replace us.

We were both immediately fired and the school did not pay us the salary and airfare they were contractually obligated to pay us for termination without cause.

Do not work for this school!

Agree with above. Now that Scarlet has opened their doors it's the perfect pre-drink bar. Good pub grub to fill your stomach before
partying or day after snack.

Not a bad shcool, the enviroment is good.

Been to many bars and restaurants in Suzhou. this is by far mmy and my wifes favourite spot. They have a beautiful outdoor seating just beside a canal. Food is not fine dining but still very good. Excellent drinks and must be best price for a pint of Stella Artois i've had anywhere in Jiangsu province and Shanghai! You won't regret going there!
